From Academia to The Altar

All my life I thought I wanted to be a professor, and then after my master's degree, I realized I desired to do more than own text books. I wanted to personally effect people's lives, and to feel their lives touch my own.

I struggled to find what I could do that would allow for such an experience. It wasn't until my friends asked me if I would do their wedding that I realized what an amazing opportunity this could be.

I loved planning their wedding, writing their wedding scripts, looking up quotes from their favorite authors, and researching how ritual could function in their lives in this special moment.

To stand with a couple as they old hands, gaze into each other's eyes, and recite their vows, is the greatest joy I have ever felt. Love becomes manifest and tangible in that moment, like something that could be gently held in your hands, with warmth and weight.

I admit that I'm nervous in starting this as a business endeavor, but also uninhibitedly excited to see where this path takes me. I want to commit to a new blog post each month, and perhaps also on special occasions.

The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.
